Cerebral thrombosis
A cerebral thrombus is a blood clot that forms when the blood's cellular components adhere to the inner lining of an artery, under conditions of slow blood flow and low blood pressure, on the basis of cerebral atherosclerosis and plaque formation. Clinically, it primarily manifests as hemiplegia. It commonly occurs after the age of 50, with a slightly higher incidence in men than in women.

Cerebral thrombosis is a type of ischemic cerebrovascular disease that commonly affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, with no significant gender difference. It is caused by lesions in the cerebral vascular walls themselves. The most common cause of cerebral thrombosis is arteriosclerosis. As a result of cerebral arteriosclerosis, the inner lining of the blood vessels becomes rough and the vessel lumen narrows. Under certain conditions—such as decreased blood pressure, slow blood flow, increased blood viscosity, or enhanced platelet aggregation—coagulation factors within the vessel lumen can coagulate and form clots, leading to vascular occlusion and interruption of blood flow. Consequently, the brain tissue supplied by the affected vessel experiences ischemia, hypoxia, softening, and necrosis, thereby triggering the onset of the disease. Cerebral thrombosis can occur in any segment of the cerebral vasculature; however, clinically, thrombi formed in the branches of the internal carotid artery, the anterior cerebral artery, and the middle cerebral artery are relatively more common.
